In the intro before Mike meets trainer Chris Powell, he explains that he has never had a girlfriend and how at 28 years old, he wants to experience a relationship for the first time in his life.
Mike grew up in a family that has food all around. Mike’s brother was very concerned that Mike might not wake up one day due to his obesity.
The nutritionist put Mike on a 1800 calories a day, low sugar meal plan.
My favorite line from Chris, “I know what you are capable of…if you aren’t going to give me 100%, I’m not going to give you anything!” This is so freaking true – just imagine how many times your body says this to your mind.
Mike’s phase 1 goal (3 months) was 120 pounds. During the initial phase, Mike’s family agreed to lose 500 pounds over the year. It’s so important that a person has support from family and friends when transforming themselves (whether it is health, fitness, new education, whatever).
Mike came in exactly at 120 pounds lost – HE LOST 120 POUNDS IN THREE MONTHS.
During the next phase, Mike met the WWE Divas, met a matchmaker, had a speed dating centered around him and had his first date.
He missed his phase 2 goal by 14 pounds. Chris said there were other things that took priority (the social life).
In 9 months, Mike lost 232 pounds – more than an average man should weigh, Mike lost in 9 months. Just absolutely-freaking-amazing.
Mike went in for the skin removal surgery and the recovery takes several months so they rarely show anything during this period.
Jump forward to the reveal at the end of the one-year weight loss transformation.
Mike ended the year at 238 pounds WITH TWO HUNDRED FIFTY FIVE POUNDS LOST. Congrats to Mike!!
